Problem

Marquee Moon and Ants From Up There both arrived as bonus-track editions (the 2003 Rhino remaster with five extras, the 2022 Deluxe with nine live tracks). The extras were deleted by hand, but the remaining files still carried the edition's tags. Marquee Moon had no MusicBrainz ids at all: beets could not confidently match the remaster in quiet mode, so it landed as-is, the date stayed 2003 and the audit never flagged it (identity tags were all present). Lidarr, switched to the original release, refused to map the files: its identifier scored them against a different edition and reported "Album release not requested".

Fix

Pin each album's original release in music_audit_overrides.json. The retag job writes that release's ids and first-release date, and Lidarr's identifier then follows the ids to the same release it monitors.

Verification

Live, 2026-10-07, run through the Dagu queue (POST /api/v1/dags/metadata/enqueue, the Lidarr hook's path):

  • music_retag_state.json records both pins applied; tags on all 18 files carry the pinned musicbrainz_albumid, the release-group id, DATE/ORIGINALDATE 1977-02-08 and 2022-02-04, album title without "(Deluxe)", track order unchanged.
  • Art re-fetched the same pass from each release group's canonical cover (album_art_state.json entries dated today, cover.jpg rewritten 17:28).
  • music_tag_sync_state.json shows 8 and 10 files at the original dates; music_audit_state.json has no entry for either.
  • Lidarr RefreshArtist on both artists afterwards: 8/8 and 10/10 track files mapped to the monitored releases (238563e4…, d9a6a448…), "Automatically Switch Release" off.

Both landed as bonus-track editions (the 2003 Rhino remaster, the 2022
Deluxe). The extra tracks are deleted; the remaining files still carry
the edition's tags and, for Marquee Moon, no MusicBrainz ids at all, so
beets fell back to as-is and the date stayed 2003. Pinning the first
release of each group retags the remaining tracks with that release's
ids and original date. Lidarr's identifier then follows the ids too,
which is what lets it map the files to the same release it monitors.
