Problem
The single-story "a" mark reads as a heavy blob at icon sizes, worst in monochrome tray/panel renderings where the small keyhole counter is its only detail. Flattening to one ink (mono icon themes) made this unmissable.
Fix
New mark: a tunnel mouth — the VPN tunnel, double-hop being the app's signature feature — with the keyhole standing inside it, kept as the continuity element from the old mark. Single flat accent-strong (#9a84d9) instead of two-tone: the mark must read by silhouette alone since icon themes recolor it to one ink, and at ≤44px the accent/accent-strong pair is too close to read as intentional two-tone. Both state variants keep their #104 rationale (green check badge for shape-not-just-hue difference; neutral grey for off).
Verification
Rasterized all three SVGs at 128px and 22px (rsvg-convert) plus a mono recolor at the KDE scheme-ink stage: keyhole silhouette, badge check, and off-state all stay legible at 22px tray size. Geometry was picked in a live preview harness rendering at 64/44/22 against real monochrome-theme neighbor icons.
